When it comes to eating, many of us do it three times a day because of the big meals of breakfast, lunch, and dinner. But oftentimes, we find ourselves hungry in between these meals. When this happens and your stomach starts grumbling, it’s best to snack on something to hold you over until your next big meal.

While it’s a good idea to have a snack, it’s important to be careful about what you decide to eat. You don’t want your snack to push your calorie intake over your recommended limit. If you are not careful about what you eat during snack time, you can see an increase in your weight.

In order to avoid this, here is a list of great snack ideas that are both easy and healthy. They are all less than 50 calories, and therefore, are a great way to hold your stomach over until your next big meal without hurting your overall calorie intake for the day.

Foods That Are Less Than 50 Calories:

1. Fruit Snacks – Having fruit for a snack is a good idea not only because it doesn’t contain a lot of calories, but also because it’s relatively easy to pack and transport to work or wherever your day may take you. Some great fruits that are easy to carry around are bananas, apples, and even oranges. Another option you have is to bring canned fruit. There is more variety with canned fruits and they are also easily transported.

2. Vegetables – Another easy and calorie-smart snack choice are vegetables! Similar to fruit, veggies can be easily transported with us during the day. There are a lot of options with vegetables too, like cucumber slices, cauliflower, carrots, and celery. To add some more flavor, try adding fat-free dressing or hummus.

3. Popcorn – Popcorn is one of those amazing foods where you control how caloric it is. If you put a lot of butter and/or salt on it, it’s going to be worse for you. But if you are looking for a light snack, try air-popped popcorn without those fatty additives.

When it comes to snacking, make the right choices! If you do then you will not see your weight go up and you will be satisfied as well.
