While working out and eating right are important, it’s equally important to make sure you live in a healthy environment.

Studies have shown that when people are organized in their day-to-day lives, it cuts down on unnecessary stress. Oftentimes when people become stressed out, they find unhealthy ways to cope with it. If someone copes with stress in the wrong way, it could be detrimental to their health.

According to the American Psychological Association, coping with stress in an unhealthy way can put you at risk for a public health crisis.

We have put together a list of ways that can help you stay organized and be less stressed. Try incorporating some of these ideas into your life and see how different your stress level is afterwards.

1. Put Your Financial Life in Order

One of the top things that stress people out is money. Every month people receive bills that are deadline sensitive. Having bills can become more stressful if you do not have a proper system in place.

To start out, buy a bin or somewhere to store your bills. That way, you know exactly where they are. You will be able to easily find them and know when they are due so you will not be left stressing over a misplaced bill or a late payment.

2. Set Aside “Me” Time

More than likely, your day is filled with lots of different activities, errands, and important tasks that end up taking you all around town. Because of this, it can be difficult to find downtime where you can relax by yourself.

A study performed by the University of Pittsburgh found that having leisurely activities is directly linked with good health. This is because spending time by yourself gives you a chance to relax and unwind from the other chaos in your life.

3 Keep your Environment Clean

As time goes on, dust and dirt accumulates. It’s important to remove the dust and the dirt that is around your home because they are not healthy to breathe in. Medrounds.org shares that, “Dusting your house is time consuming and boring, but very necessary to keep your home free of allergens. A single dust mite can produce up to 20 waste dropping each day.” A good idea to prevent experiencing the negative effects of dust (like sneezing, coughing, and nasal congestion) is to dust on a consistent, regular basis.

Keep these tips in mind. Your health is important just as much as the health of the environment you put yourself in.
