You might have noticed that as soon as you started working out regularly, your skin started to breakout regularly. You might also have noticed that it's only getting worse as the weather gets colder.

Sadly, because your workout is causing you to sweat, there is a higher chance it's clogging your pores, causing breakouts. Yuck!

So what can you do to avoid these breakouts? Besides always showering after your workout and washing your face regularly, there are a few foods you can eat to ensure that your skin is primed and ready to fight bacteria and other junk that likes to clog your pores.

As a side note, always be sure you are moisturizing your face in cold winter months, especially if you run outside!

Check out the list below:

1. Salmon. Fatty fish is a great source of skin-loving fatty acids like omega-3 and omega-6 that help to reduce inflammation--which means it will help fight breakouts.

2. Garlic. This tasty herb also helps fight inflammation, and it's also full of a naturally occurring chemical called allicin, which kills off many harmful bacteria and viruses your body might be fighting.

3. Nuts. Most nuts contain selenium, vitamin E, copper, magnesium, manganese, potassium, calcium and iron, which are all essential for healthy skin. Try a handful of your favorite nuts, like almonds,

4. Carrots. Carrots are rich in vitamin A, which is proved to help fight breakouts and acne. Vitamin A helps encourage cell-turnover, prevents the buildup of dead, pore-clogging cells and, in general, reduces the likelihood of your breaking out! Don't like carrots? Vitamin A is plentiful in fruits and veggies that have vibrate orange colors--so you can also try sweet potatoes and peaches!

5. Avoid Dairy. Dairy has been shown to actually cause breakouts, same as sugar. It has been shown to contain hormones that can exacerbate breakouts, so switch to almond milk if you're experiencing a particularly bad breakout.
