It's officially the weekend which means that it's time to kick back, relax, sleep in, and of course, eat some really tasty food with your friends or family.

On a diet, though, that might sound impossible. That delicious pizza place you always used to go to? It's just not in the cards anymore.

That doesn't mean you have to give up pizza completely, though. You can always make a healthy version right in your own kitchen--and boy, have we got the recipe for you!

This YouTubers secret twist? Spelt flour.

Spelt flour is easily one of the most popular whole grain, non-wheat flours available--and it tastes amazing as pizza crust.

According to Baking Bites, this special flour is a "cereal grain in the wheat family, but it is not the same thing as wheat (same genus, different species)... It looks very similar to wheat in appearance, but it has a much harder outer shell before it has been milled.

"It has a nutty and slightly sweet flavor, similar to that of whole wheat flour. It does contain gluten, so one of the reasons that spelt is rather popular is that it is easy to substitute it into all wheat cookie, bread, etc. recipes, where you will get to enjoy the flavor of spelt without dramatically compromising the texture of your baked good."

The best reason to eat spelt flour? It has slightly fewer calories than regular wheat flour and has more protein. It's also easier to digest because it has a little less fiber than wheat as well.

There you have it! Just buy some spelt flour in your local specialty food store, Whole Foods, or Amazon and start baking!
