Whether you have done it intentionally or not, we have all cracked our knuckles at some point in our lives.

If we do it because it feels as addicting as popping bubble wrap or because we're trying to loosen up our joints, it's a fairly average habit to have. But do you really know much about it at all?

We're not just talking about whether or not this is a good habit to have. There has been a long-standing debate on whether or not cracking your joints is good or bad for you, but a lot of studies have concluded that it really isn't good or bad--so go ahead (or don't): it really doesn't matter.

We're also talking about what exactly happens when you crack your knuckles (or any joint, for that matter). What is it that makes that snapping sound?

One video has set out to explain exactly that, and it's really very interesting.
