What is anxiety, really? If you’re someone who has experienced it, the answer is obvious, but sometimes you just can’t explain it.

If you’ve never experienced long-lasting anxiety, you may want to know what all the fuss is about.

Luckily, this video by Life Noggin has the answers to all of your questions.

The feeling of anxiety is basically your body going through its fight-or-flight response. This is totally normal, especially if it’s something that makes you nervous, like an interview or public speaking.

But people with anxiety disorders can feel this fight-or-flight reaction all the time, or suddenly for no reason, or in response to situations that wouldn’t be nervewracking to anyone else.

Imagine feeling that sped up heartbeat, shortness of breath, shakiness, and worry for an extended period of time. That’s what an anxiety disorder is like.

Sufferers of anxiety disorders can be triggered by social situations, busy areas, certain stimuli, or by seemingly nothing. Generalized anxiety could be a constant feeling of worry and anxiety over several months, with no specific trigger.

But why does your brain do it? Watch this video to find out.

What do you do when you're feeling anxious?
