Niki, a 25-year-old former college student, became addicted to heroin seven years ago. Now, she takes about $450 worth of heroin each day. She quit school a long time ago, but her habit has also caused her to become homeless and turned to alternative methods of earning money, all for the purpose of continuing to feed her addiction.

For the past three years, Niki has worked as a prostitute. The money from her clients goes specifically toward buying more drugs.

Her habit is so strong that she's also influenced her fiancé, Jessey, to try heroin and become addicted himself.

To make matters worse, not only is Niki a hazard to her and Jessey's health, but she's also ruining the life of her unborn child.

Although Niki is eight months pregnant, she has admitted, candidly, "I would rather feed my drug habit than my unborn child."

Jessey initially wanted to be the force that stopped Niki's drug habit. But the tables turned on him, and he only became addicted himself. Now, he realizes how dire the situation is and he's reaching out to everyone and anyone, including Niki's mother, sister, and even Dr. Phil, for help.

"Like four or five times she’s OD’d and I’m scared we’re going to lose her or lose the baby. That’s why we need you, Dr Phil, to help us," Jessey explained.

The situation is bad enough that Jessey is able to precisely recognize when Niki has OD'd, and when she'll be okay again. In a brief clip of the couple, he holds up her limp form and says, "Right now she is really high. She’s going to be OK. When she starts getting bad is when her lips get blue-ish, darker."

It's currently uncertain whether Niki's mother and sister will take her back (Her sister has explicitly said, "I hate [Niki], I hate [her] guts.") and neither can quite believe that Niki would intentionally do such a harmful, dangerous thing to her own child.

Jessey's only hope now rests on Dr. Phil.
