In China’s Zhongshan city, several doctors had to think on their feet as they helped one mother-to-be give birth to her child – in the back seat of her car.

On January 8, the woman – whose identity is being kept anonymous – wasn’t quite able to make it to the hospital in time to deliver her baby inside the safety of a hospital room.

By the time she’d arrived at the hospital parking lot, the baby’s head had already emerged and would soon be fully born – with or without doctors there to help out.

The medical staff who first met the car rushed back into the hospital in search of the hospital’s chief physician and a pediatrician, Dr. He Fenjun and Dr. Pan Cong, respectively.

Both men rushed to the vehicle, where other doctors pulled out their cell phones to light up the backseat. There was no other light available at 2:25 a.m.

Thankfully, the lights were just strong enough for the doctors to safely finish delivering the baby, cut the umbilical cord, and wrap the child in blankets from the hospital.

Immediately after the baby was born, doctors hurried the child into the hospital for care and treatment. Mother followed soon after.

Now, doctors report that both mother and child are recovering well, in the safety and comfort of the hospital.

Their news has spread rapidly online. Many people are laughing at the baby’s impatience, and others joke that the child’s future “will be bright.”
