Annika Aguinaldo is a 19 years old college student. Aguinaldo lives in Manila, Philippines. According to her Twitter bio, she lives in Ravenclaw common room. Sure. She and her boyfriend, Rico Villanueva, have known each other since they were in elementary school.

Aguinaldo told BuzzFeed News that she and Villanueva, who’s also 19 years old, first went out on a date at a McDonald’s restaurant. Ever since they first hung out at the fast food chain, they’ve built their relationship with small ‘fast food-related’ gifts to each other.

They would sometimes surprise each other with chicken nuggets from McDonald’s when they knew that either one of them hadn’t eaten yet.

A few weeks ago, Villanueva asked Aguinaldo to meet him at a certain place because he has a surprise for her. As soon as she arrived, he took out his surprise, which was a bouquet of chicken nuggets.

A friend of the couple came along to take photographs and capture the moment. Aguinaldo then shared the photos on Twitter.

Aguinaldo tweeted, “I told him I didn't like flowers, so he got me a bouquet of chicken nuggets, and I pretty much became the happiest girl on the planet.”

The tweet received 11,000 retweets and 41,000 likes.

Aguinaldo said that she had been dropping hints about her wanting something different instead of the regular couple gifts like chocolates, roses, and stuffed toys. She told him that she wasn’t really into receiving flowers. At first, she was just joking that she’d rather receive a bouquet of chicken nuggets instead.

She said she also knew that he wouldn’t take that seriously. Aguinaldo never thought that Villanueva would take what she said seriously and actually give her a bouquet of chicken nuggets.

Aguinaldo was really surprised when the tweet blew up and garnered so much attention. Although she and her boyfriend got their 15 minutes of fame from this, the two still plan to resume with their lives and give each other small, silly, and sentimental gifts.

McDonald’s eventually reacted to the post and invited the couple for a meal filled with McDonald’s food.

Aguinaldo said, “Despite the viral post, Rico and I are still the same goofy couple. Viral tweet or no tweet, I still appreciate the little things he does to make me happy.”

Aguinaldo confirmed to BuzzFeed News that she, her boyfriend Villanueva, and another friend named Eia ate the bouquet of chicken nuggets as soon as they finished taking photos.
