There is potentially not much scarier than having a major health problem when you’re all by yourself, let alone on public transportation. Things like passing out, falling, or having a seizure aren’t exactly uncommon, but having them happen when you have no one you trust to help you is pretty terrifying.

This is exactly what happen to a woman named Ellie Farnfield. While on a train to London after a fitness class, she suffered from a seizure and collapsed onto the ground. This would be frightening for anyone to go through, but for a young woman alone on the train, the fear is definitely magnified. Not to mention the fact that most people don’t really know what to do in a crisis such as this. We’d all like to think that we’d be able to jump in and help, but when it comes down to, a lot of people hang back in the hopes that someone else will help out. Let’s face it, most of us aren’t medical professionals, and don’t even know how to help someone suffering from a seizure, aside from calling 9-1-1.

Thankfully, an extremely kind man named Tom was riding the train at the same time as Ellie, and he came to her rescue. Tom helped Ellie get off the train and took her to a safer place. He made sure to call all of her friends to come help her, and alerted the train staff of the incident. But he didn’t stop there. He also left her some money, a cup of coffee, and a note:

"Hi Eleanor.

I hope by the time you read this you are feeling better. You had a seizure on the train and I took you off. You didn’t hit your head, but I may have hurt your leg as I walked on it before realizing you were on the floor having a fit! Sorry! I’m also sorry I can’t stay with you now, but here is a coffee to perk you up later and £10 to make sure you get a taxi home. Sorry I don’t have anymore money, so I hope you don’t live far away. I’ve contacted people from your phone and medical help is on its way and you’re with train staff. Wishing you all the best and a quick recovery.

Love Tom.”

When Ellie awoke, she found the note and was touched. She couldn’t believe a complete stranger had been so kind to her during such a frightening moment. She shared her experience on Facebook, hoping that she’d be able to meet Tom in person and truly thank him for his kindness.

“"Faith restored in humanity in London last night. Thank you so much to everyone who helped me last night - especially Tom. Would love to try and find this man so I can return his money and add many, many thanks to it. Please like and share." she wrote.

What do you think of this story? Would you have done what Tom did in this situation?
